Flash Cards. How many?

These are all the flash cards I made and used to study for 1 class last semester.  Yes, this is all for just 1 class.  Just how many cards are in this photo?  Well, I actually tried to count them and after I counted to 500, I quit!  So over 500 flash cards for 1 class.  This is the real deal…….

Books, Books, Books!!!!

Books, Books, Books!!!!!!!!!!  So many books for the next semester!  I'm taking 3 classes and just ordered 7 books!  I've never ordered that many books from Amazon before.  lol.  I am one of those people that forgets to order their textbooks until a few days before class.  I'm trying to be as prepared as possible for this semester.  That means being completely organized and having all the supplies I need.  Tomorrow I will be writing down my class schedule in my planner with different colored pens.  Again, I'm really trying to be organized!

Hello again!

So I haven't blogged in FOREVER!!!!!!!!  I'm sorry about that, but this past semester was super crazy! So much studying, and so little free time for blogging!  Good news though, I passed all my classes and next semester I am officially in NURSING!!!!!!!!!  I've worked so hard for this for so long, and I'm finally getting closer to my lifelong goal of becoming a Registered Nurse!

So what am I doing now in my free time?  I'm cleaning out my school bag and getting organized for the next semester!  What else would I be doing?  LOL!  I'll be back this week to blog some more!

I am OBSESSED!!!!!!

I have discovered a social media/website where you can sell your unwanted clothing, shoes, accessories, etc and get money!!!!  I am totally OBSESSED with this thing called Poshmark!  Totally easy and fun!!!!!!!!  Poshmark is an app that you download on your phone, snap a few pictures of whatever you want to sell, and post!  It's that simple!  I have been on Posh for a little less than 1 month and have sold 26 items!!!!!!!  Some days I have sold multiple items!  CRAZY!!!!!  You can also have your earnings sent to you in check form or have the money direct deposited into your bank account!  It's so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2016

Ok, so it's a new year!!!!!  Happy 2016 everybody!  Some people make resolutions.  Since I know I'll be busy in school for the next few years, I have not made any resolutions.  However, I did clean out my entire room and completely reorganize everything!!!!  I got rid of so much stuff.  OMG!  It was actually embarrassing!  It took about a week and I ended up with 3 trash bags full, 1 bag of old paperwork/mail to be shredded and 5 bags of stuff to donate!  Good grief!  I can't believe all that stuff was just taking up valuable space in my room!  Anyway, I even added a ton of stuff to my tradesy closet.  Feels like I just knocked out a New Year's resolution within the first few weeks of January.  Being so clean and organized is absolutely amazing!  Love it so far!  2016 has started off pretty good.  :-)

Messy Room again…..Ugh!

So I failed again!  My room is a total mess, a disaster area!  I've been cleaning it out for 2 days.  Yeah.  It takes me over 2 days to clean my room.  How embarrassing is that?  So anyway, after Christmas I started.  I have actually gotten rid of some things and am trying to re-organize.  It seems like I can never  keep things clean and organized.  :-(

That Same Old Love…...

So the song I'm currently feeling is Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love."  I don't know about others, but I can totally relate to this song.  Being in love with someone or something that is so toxic that it literally tears you up inside and makes you feel sick is no way to live.  But you keep loving that same thing.  WHY????  Sometimes you just don't know or even understand why, all you know is that you're in love.  Well, I've felt this way for a good amount of time.  Although I am happy and I know I have most everything going for me, there are times when that "Same Old Love" comes to haunt me.  Sometimes it is in my sleep and sometimes it will come out of nowhere.  I'll feel torn up for a while and then it disappears.  Does anyone else feel this way?  Ever?  Here's to "Same Old Love."

My Favorite Fashion Blogger!

Time for fashion blogger talk!  So you know the girls that have the most amazing outfits and beauty tips?  The ones with beautiful OOTD pictures and look so well put together?  Well, I stumbled across a fashion blogger who specializes in petite fashion!  Awesome!  Being barely over 5' I have always felt like the shortest person on the planet.  However, this fashion blogger is 4'11"  And OH MY GOODNESS, does she know how to dress!  Finally, a fashion blogger that "gets it!"  This meaning she gets that any pair of nice jeans I purchase have to be altered.  So as if I'm not spending enough money on designer denim, I have to turn around and spend more money to have them tailored so I'm not dragging an extra foot of fabric with every step I take.  She gets it!  She even made a blog post mentioning how much money she has spent on tailoring her clothes.  Anyway, her name is Olivia Rink, and she is my inspiration when clothes shopping and getting dressed in the morning.  Check her out for yourself, especially if you are fun sized like me!  Check out Olivia Rink!

Another Sale! :-D

OMG!  Another sale!  I'm so excited!  I just made another sale on Tradesy.  This time, a pullover/sweater that is practically brand new and only worn once.  This is the best way to get rid of things in your closet that you don't use, yet are in really good shape!  Even though some of these things don't bring in a ton of money, every little bit counts and adds up.  I highly recommend using Tradesy to unload those "only worn once" dresses and the "I'll fit into it one day" pants.  LOL!  Hoping to sell more!  :-D

Christmas!

It is officially here!  Christmas time!  I picked up this little cutie at Starbucks the other day.  :-)

We are all Beautiful in our own way.

So if you've been on Instagram lately, you've noticed the overposting of young girls with the perfect bikini bodies and hundred/thousand dollar dresses with painted on makeup.  I used to think that this was what beautiful was until lately.  These overposted images that have been plastered all over the internet are not what is beautiful to everyone!  Without all the painted on makeup, you wouldn't even recognize half those girls!  Beautiful is who you are as a person, not what you wear (although, some of those outfits are to die for pretty!).  Beautiful comes in all shapes and sizes.  I'm not a 6' tall model.  I am barely over 5' and that's ok.  It doesn't make me not beautiful.  It makes me, me!  Beautiful is not a designer handbag and thousand dollar shoes.  Beautiful is not a $200,000 sports car.  These are things that are nice to have, but they do not make you, as a person, beautiful.

Black Friday!

So how was everyone's Thanksgiving?!  Lots of food, lots of leftovers!  But now I must ask, how many of you went out shopping the next day?  How many of you experienced Black Friday?!?!  I did!  I have finally experienced the true reality that is Black Friday.  I'm not going to say what store or what city, but good grief people.  I was caught in the middle of a stampede of crazy people at the crack of dawn fighting to the death over merchandise!  Pushing and shoving, shopping carts flying everywhere. My poor mom was with me and got body slammed by a very large person.  She ended up flying about 10 feet away from me and I got abandoned in the middle of all this craziness!  Anyway,  what I went through to get what we wanted from this store was ridiculous!  Anyway, I somehow managed to get out of the store in one piece, however, I ended up with one heck of a bruise on my arm from the whole ordeal.  Reaching through shelves and getting pushed around is what this is from!

Keds!

I just got these cute Keds at Nordstrom Rack for super cheap!  Check them out!  They are kind of a purple-y color with short laces.  They are super casual and great for wearing to class.

Products I will never purchase again!

We've all been there.  You purchase a product and when you use it you are totally disappointed and vow never to buy it again!  Here are some products that I was less than happy with after purchasing….

First on the list…..NYX eye shadow primer.  Ugh, this product was a total disappointment.  First, it creases terribly.  My eye shadows didn't blend well in this stuff at all.  And to top it off, my eyelids were SLIMY!!!!!  Ewwwwwww!  Maybe this product works for some people, but definitely not for me.  Will NOT be repurchasing!

Next on the list…..Secret gel deodorant.  This stuff is supposed to smell like berries, however, it smells like BO!!!!  The reason I buy deodorant is to prevent smelling like BO.  So when I put on a deodorant, I want it to smell clean.  Also, this stuff left my underarms feeling damp all day.  As if it doesn't dry.  And when bathing, I couldn't get it off!  It left such a residue on my skin that I had to scrub and scrub to get it off, and I could still smell the unpleasant odor on my skin after a shower or bath.  Will definitely NOT be repurchasing!

Next, super sticky lip glosses!  I got these things as a stocking stuffer last Christmas and you can see how much I have used.  Hardly any!  These are Simple Pleasures lip glosses and they are more like a lip glue/watered down paste.  Totally gross level of stickiness!  If you apply this gloss in the morning, your lips are still sticky in the afternoon.  Ewwww.  Thank goodness I didn't purchase these!

Now this one baffles me!  Clinique…..I have used Clinique products all my life and this was a big disappointment.  The CC cream.  I got this in one of their gift with purchase bonus sales.  Anyway, this stuff claims to moisturize your face, however, when I used it, the skin on my face got totally dried out!  What the heck?!?!  Unfortunately I will not be purchasing this Clinique product.

Christmas Shopping for the Hard to Buy for Person!

So it's officially time to get ready for Christmas.  Every store, every parking lot, and nearly every street you drive down has decorations.  Christmas movies play back to back all hours of every day…..no really, I'm actually watching a Christmas movie right now as I'm typing.  Anyway, it's no secret that people get stressed out during this time of year.  I don't know what stresses other people out about Christmas, but for me, it's finding Christmas gifts for people.  Now, I don't care who you are, where you're from, or how big or small your family is.  We all have that one person that is super picky and a pain in the butt to buy for!  Am I right?!?!

In my life, this impossible to buy for, super picky person is my mother! You see, my mom is not like other moms.  My mom doesn't wear perfume because she says it stinks.  She doesn't use candles because they smell and leave dark marks on the walls/celling where they are lit most often.  She wears the same exact makeup products every day in life and any time I buy her a different makeup product as a gift, she won't use it.  She doesn't like lotion because she says it's slimy.  She doesn't wear jewelry unless she is going to a fancy dinner or some other affair (I can count the times on one hand per year that I see her wear a necklace).  When it comes to clothes, we have complete opposite taste!  I like everything girly and she likes things she can throw in the washer and drier.

Now, many of you may be thinking my mom is a total snob or a complete weirdo!  I assure you she is not and we have a great relationship.  My mom is amazing!  She has helped me in so many different ways and in so many different aspects in life.  From helping me write a paper, dealing with my boyfriend problems, and deep life conversations, my mom is a saint!  So naturally, she deserves a few Christmas gifts that she will not only like, but things she will actually use.

So what to get mom (A.K.A. the picky person!) for Christmas.  Hmmmmm…….first I start out by asking myself, "What does she like?" or "What does the picky person like?"  My mom and I both LOVE the ocean and the beach.  So anything beachy is definitely a yes!  Her favorite color is green, so I usually hit up Nordstrom Rack and look for things that are green (it also helps that I get her style and know what she likes).  She also likes to garden, so anything gardening related is good.  Hmmmm……what else?!  So far that's all I've got.  Beach/ocean, green, and gardening.  Very specific and very narrow when searching for gifts.

Let's see what I've come up with so far!

First thing…….

It's a soft beachy throw blanket!  I am pretty sure she will have no complaints about this gift!  It's soft, it's beach themed, and who doesn't need another blanket?!

Second thing……..

For only $2, an ocean-beachy mug!  Who doesn't love a $2 item?!  (Look mom, I'm Christmas shopping and saving money!)

Third thing………

A Christmas decor item!  Now, I know my mom will love this one 100%!  It has starfish on the tree!  When I purchased this, I actually had 2 different people stop me in the store and ask me if the store had another one of these Christmas trees!  I guess this was a desirable decor item.

Fourth thing……..

Another mug!  This one was $4, but my mom loves her black cat, so every Christmas I try to find her something with a black cat!  I have succeeded and can scratch this one off my list.

And the fifth thing(s)………

2 pullover/sweaters in mom's favorite color along with a cute tank.  Here in Southern California, this is what winter wear looks like.  Just add leggings and some Ugg boots or flip flops and you're good to go!

So there ya have it, when you have a picky person to buy for you may be limited, but when you spend time in discount stores, or in the home goods section, you can come away with a few things you know the person will like and use!  Add a sweater, scarf, or graphic tee in the person's favorite color or style and you can rest at night knowing you have the picky person out of the way!  So remember, when shopping for a picky person ask yourself these questions:

  • What does super picky person actually like?
    • The super picky person will most likely have very limited or totally off the wall hard to find things.  Tip: Search the internet for gifts related to things they like.
  • What is the super picky person's favorite color or colors?
    • If all else fails, get something in their favorite color!
  • Does the super picky person have a pet?
    • If so, look for something relating to their furry friend.  Does this person have a particular breed of dog?  Look for a sign, mug, or even a magnet with that particular breed of dog on it.  Look for a tee shirt or a tote bag or something!
  • What is the picky person's lifestyle?
    • Is this someone who is outdoorsy?  Get them something related to whatever their outdoorsy sport is - hiking, surfing, fishing, running….whatever!  Is this person a business man who wears a suit & tie?  Get him a new tie!  Anything related to their job or profession can be turned into a gift

Now Christmas shopping for Dad…..THAT is another story!

A Mistletoe Kiss

Kissing under the mistletoe.  It's a holiday tradition that's been around for ever!  In movies, on commercials, on Christmas cards, Christmas ornaments, and decor.  I'm sure I missed something, but you get the idea.  It's everywhere!  My question is, how many of us have actually practiced this holiday tradition?  I mean really, how many of us have kissed a significant other under the mistletoe?  I know I haven't.  I have a friend who hasn't.  I'm not talking about kissing some random person under the mistletoe at a holiday party.  I'm talking someone you are totally in love with or someone you really care about.  Whether it's boyfriend/girlfriend or wife/husband.  Who has actually done this?  Maybe this year I will finally get to kiss someone I really care about under the mistletoe.
